Floral Inspiration

Picture
Sunflowers, Dark Blue Delphenium, Blue Cornflowers, Daisies, and a variety of ferns and fillers.  The centerpiece arrangements will have flowers similar to these in 8" bubble bowls and we'll have an arrangement similar to this on the appetizer table for cocktail hour.

Bouquets

Picture
The bouquets will be similar to this, except that they will have smaller sunflowers and more than one.  The bridesmaids will carry smaller versions of the same arrangement, but the ribbon on the bride's bouquet is ivory and the bridesmaids will have navy and celedon colored ribbons.

Our Florist

Picture
This is our amazing florist, Mardi, from Daffodils Florist in Jaffrey.  She listened to our 'very fragmented and eclectic' ideas on what we liked, and was great to show us samples and talk to us to help find the perfect 'non-traditional' floral style.  She put together a prototype, and even offered to store all of our glass containers and supplies for us until the wedding.  We walked in to our first meeting with a very meager budget, but Mardi didn't try to 'up-sell 'us (like some other florists had).  She kept us within our flower budget.  With her help, we were actually able to add more flowers than we originally thought we could.  (She even gave me this beautiful orchid as a gift to take home).

Based upon our style and outdoor venue, Mardi suggested that we purchase several large potted ivy plants and tall wrought iron plant stands to use at the ceremony---then we could move them inside the reception area and take them home after.  What a great and inexpensive idea.

Birch Ringbearer's "Pillow"

Picture
Custom made, ordered from Etsy.com, seller - Little Wee Shop.  We're going to tie our rings to this and it will be carried by our 10 year old Ring Bearer.  He'll hand it to the Best Man, who will untie the rings and then hand the wooden "pillow" back to the Ring Bearer to hold for the rest of the ceremony.

Ceremony Music

Picture
We hired Don Sanni through gigmasters.com.  He plays both classical and contemporary acoustic guitar.  He is from Nashua, NH, but does events all over New England.  We met with him in May 2011 and here's the music we chose for our ceremony:

Prelude, Groom & Officiant take places:  "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You", (Elvis)
Seating of Mothers & Father/Step-Mother:  "I'll Be There", (Jackson 5)
Bridesmaid/Ring Bearer Processional:  "What A Wonderful World", (Louis Armstrong)
Bride & Father walk down the aisle to:  "Close To You", (The Carpenters)
Recessional:  "For Once in My Life", (Stevie Wonder)

Officiant

This is us with Jane Rokes, the officiant who will perform our ceremony.  She sent us a questionnaire to help discover our thoughts and ideas about marriage and wrote a custom ceremony based upon our responses.  She's really great!  We're also doing a 'hand fasting' ritual, rose presentations for our moms, and a reading by one of our friends.
